NetsforLife® sponsored the Zambezi River Expedition to highlight the challenges of access vulnerable communities face to malaria treatment and education needed to recognize and prevent transmission of the disease.
The second NetsforLife® Roundtable took place in Accra, Ghana from March 3rd-7th.
Every year, program managers from sixteen countries gather to share lessons learned, challenges and opportunities in the fight against malaria in Africa.
Malaria is the cause of almost 25% of infant deaths in Nigeria. On February 28, 2008, NetsforLife® was launched in Nigeria to help fight malaria.
NetsforLife® will distribute 82,500 long-lasting insecticide-treated nets in Nigeria through the Anglican Church delivery network, with Christian Aid serving as an implementing partner.
In February, 2008 NetsforLife® launched malaria prevention and treatment programs in Angola and Ghana.
The programs target the most vulnerable populations—pregnant women, children under five years old, the elderly and the immunocompromised.
Thousands of people attended the launch celebrations and numerous speeches were made in support of NetsforLife®.
