Elize (not pictured) lives with her husband and eight children in Katanga province in DR Congo. Because malaria is rampant in her community, Elize had to spend a large portion of the family’s limited income on medical treatment for her children, who were infected repeatedly.
When NetsforLife® came to her village, Elize learned to prevent the spread of the disease by cleaning up standing pools of water and other breeding grounds for the malaria mosquito. She also received an insecticide-treated net to protect her children.
Her family no longer has to worry about missing school or work because of malaria. Now, Elize is mobilizing her neighbors to fight malaria throughout the community.
There are an estimated 250 million cases of malaria each year, resulting in nearly 800,000 deaths. The majority of these deaths are children younger than five years old. Join us in the fight against malaria in Africa. Give today.
